I can officially report that my husband has gone to work every day for a full month...even when I was out of town for a week! I was honestly shocked to see when I got back (I check his clock in/clock out times on his work website but he doesn't know I know how to get on there) that he didn't miss a day and he didn't leave early. There haven't been anymore leaving at 4AM only to go have breakfast somewhere until 7AM and then coming home after I leave. He has been happy. He got moved to a different area temporarily at work due to light duty restrictions and has had that extended by his doctor until Nov. 11. He wants to go back and see the doctor and get permanent restrictions. If he does, he will probably still get moved to yet another area. However even though he raves about the OT he's getting and liking his area, he is still looking to take a leave of absence from the company for 6 months to a year to go work on motorcycles. I am so against this as he would be taking a $20/hr pay cut and having to travel an extra 45 minutes one way. Plus, I know if he leaves this job he will never go back to it.
I know this happiness will fade and I know he will go back to his old ways of not going to work, but for now it is so nice to have a normal, working, functioning husband!
I'm glad to hear this!

I saw water leaking around

I saw water leaking around the water heater 2 nights ago and told H. He said we'd have to replace it. He goes online to Home Depot and sees how much they are and says he can install it. I was iffy about that even though he worked with his dad at his plumbing business when he was a teenager. But talk about motivation! He leaves work at 1:30 (I thought SURE he'd need to take the day off to do this since he always seems to feel that way with any project) and goes directly to Home Depot and buys one and brings it home. He waited until I got home at 5PM to take the old one apart so I could shower (how nice!). H starts dismantling the old one at 5:30 and has the new one installed and working by 7:30! Then after that was done he still happily made dinner (which just meant cooking the steaks since everything else was ready and just needed to be warmed up.
THIS is the man I love! The going to work, the motivation and getting things done is so wonderful!!!
Hurray! I especially like

Hurray! I especially like that your husband waited until you got home so you could take a shower. That is so thoughtful!
I know!

However, I know this will not last. Something at work will happen to put him back into "no work" mode or his daughter will do something to upset him or his friend who has cancer will die. These are all catalysts for him going back to his old self. Or I will come home one night and he will be in sarcastic mode.
